Jazz is an ever-evolving dance form that includes a wide variety of styles, including Jazz Funk, Theatre Jazz, Contemporary, and Street-Dance. This dance form has a strong technical element and builds coordination, endurance, and confidence in an energetic class setting. Jumps, Turns, Kicks, and Personal Style are developed in Jazz Classes.

Legends Academy dancers will follow the Royal Academy Of Dancing (RAD) syllabus. Ballet focuses on posture, body placement, memory, and technical strength. A strong Ballet foundation prepares dancers to have an understanding of the proper technical elements required to perform intelligently and to reduce injury. RAD Majors Ballet Exams and Pointe Classes are offered at Legends Academy. Admittance into Pointe Classes are at the discretion of our Head Of Ballet Director.

Tap is a rhythmic style of dance that is offered in an energetic and fun setting. Dancers will learn and increase their musicality, coordination, and understanding of rhythm. Teachers are trained in Classic, Broadway, and Modern Tap.

Legends Academy dancers will follow the Acro Dance Teachers Association syllabus. Acrobatics focuses on concentration, balance, flexibility and control. Proper technique and hard-earned goals will be accomplished over time. Basic skills such as front rolls (somersaults), cartwheels, and handstands will be mastered before moving on to bigger movements such as tumbling, aerials, and partner work.

Dance just like they do in music videos, in concerts, and in your favourite dance trends! Hip Hop is a stylized technique that uses various forms of dance. Dancers will learn fresh combinations and movements performed to the latest music. This form of dance is strongly encouraged to all dancers to increase their personal style and understanding of stylized movement.

Lyrical is a fusion of Jazz and Ballet with a focus on emotional expression and the lyrics of the music. This style of dance has a strong technical element but also is highly focused on storytelling through the movement and facial expression.

Enhance your dancer’s versatility by giving them the opportunity to learn to sing and act as well! Musical Theatre is a form of dance that you see on stages around the world. Students will learn how to sing in a group, how to listen, blend their voices, and control their sound. Vocal and Acting Technique are introduced through proper warm ups, breathing techniques, acting studies, and acting games. Solo singing will also be introduced when students are ready.

Contemporary is a style of dance that combines Jazz, Ballet, Modern, and components of Hip Hop. Dancers will learn new and innovative combinations and choreography. Utilizing a wide range of music styles, Contemporary Dance gives students a chance to explore their own style and tell a story through movement. Improvisational movement will be explored in class.
